Drug intelligence / Profile preview
lolium perenne allergenic extract is a biological allergen extract derived from the pollen of Lolium perenne (perennial ryegrass), developed by Laboratorios LETI. It is utilized in the diagnosis and immunotherapy of grass pollen allergy, specifically targeting individuals sensitized to Lolium perenne pollen who suffer from allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and allergic asthma. The extract contains a complex mixture of allergenic proteins, including major allergens such as Lol p 1 and Lol p 5, which interact with IgE-mediated immune pathways. Laboratorios LETI evaluated this extract in a completed Phase 2 clinical study in Spain (EudraCT 2010-023949-29) to biologically standardize its activity in Histamine Equivalent Prick (HEP) units, establishing an internal reference preparation in accordance with Nordic Guidelines.
