Lolium perenne extract

Lolium perenne extract is a biological allergenic extract derived from the pollen of *Lolium perenne* (perennial ryegrass), developed by Instituto de Inmunología y Alergia INMUNAL S.A.U. It is designed for use as both a diagnostic tool (via skin prick testing) and an immunotherapeutic agent for patients suffering from IgE-mediated hypersensitivity to grass pollens. The extract contains a complex mixture of allergenic proteins, most notably the major allergens Lol p 1 (a β-expansin) and Lol p 5 (a group 5 allergen), which are the primary components responsible for triggering allergic responses. By exposing the immune system to controlled amounts of these allergens, the extract aims to induce desensitization and reduce symptoms of allergic rhinitis and allergic asthma. It has been evaluated in Phase II clinical trials (such as NCT01394289) for biological standardization and characterization.
