Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LomaHerpan is a topical herbal medicinal product developed by Infectopharm Arzneimittel GmbH for the treatment of herpes simplex labialis (cold sores). The active ingredient is a highly concentrated dry extract from lemon balm leaves (*Melissa officinalis*), with a drug-extract ratio of 65-75:1. It works by preventing the penetration of herpes simplex virus (types 1 and 2) into host cells, thereby limiting the spread of the lesion and reducing inflammatory symptoms such as redness, swelling, and blistering. Formulated as a cream, it is approved for use in children from age 3 and adults, and is notable for being suitable for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
