Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lomerizotide is a synthetic 28-amino acid peptide immunomodulator that is chemically identical to thymosin alpha 1 (thymalfasin). Developed by Yi Qiao (Hunan) Pharmaceutical, it is primarily investigated as an adjuvant therapy for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) who have undergone curative resection and are at high risk of recurrence. The drug acts by stimulating the maturation and activity of T-lymphocytes and enhancing the production of various cytokines, such as interferon-gamma and interleukin-2, thereby bolstering the host's anti-tumor immune response. It is currently in Phase 3 clinical trials in China aimed at reducing the risk of relapse in postoperative HCC patients.
