LONG-002 is a preclinical gene therapy candidate developed by Longaevus Technologies for the treatment of age-related inflammatory diseases, including psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis. The therapy utilizes a lentiviral vector to deliver short hairpin RNA (shRNA) designed to inhibit a specific target gene identified through a large-scale screen of over 700 candidates. This target gene plays a pivotal role in the inflammatory cascade triggered by the accumulation of DNA damage associated with aging. By suppressing the activity of this gene, LONG-002 aims to reduce chronic inflammation and exert a rejuvenating effect on aged human cells, such as primary skin fibroblasts.
