Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Long-acting PTH (LA-PTH) is a proprietary parathyroid hormone variant being developed by OPKO Biologics for the treatment of hypoparathyroidism. It is a stabilizer-based long-acting protein/peptide analog designed to provide sustained activation of the parathyroid hormone receptor, aiming to maintain stable calcium and phosphorus levels in patients with chronic PTH deficiency. OPKO is collaborating with Entera Bio to develop an oral, once-daily tablet formulation of this variant using Entera's N-Tab technology, which could potentially eliminate the need for daily injections. The program is currently in preclinical development, with an Investigational New Drug (IND) application targeted for late 2026.
