Long Medical Zheng Qi Formula (also known as Zheng Qi Support Formula or Zheng Qi Fang) is a modern Chinese herbal formulation designed to support the body's zheng qi—translated as upright, righteous, or antipathogenic qi. This formula is intended to strengthen immune function and address symptoms associated with weak immunity such as chronic fatigue, susceptibility to infections, lingering illness after external invasion, aversion to cold, and general constitutional weakness. It can also be used preventively in relatively healthy individuals before cold and flu season. The formula supports lung qi, central qi (digestive energy), yang energy (warming function), generates body fluids (jin), strengthens defensive wei qi (immune defense), astringes leakage of qi, and regulates chest/abdominal qi. The main ingredients are: - Astragalus Root (Huang Qi) - Chinese Yam (Shan Yao) - Kudzu Root (Ge Gen) - Chinese Licorice Root and Rhizome (Gan Cao) - Gallnut of Chinese Sumac (Wu Bei Zi) Mechanistically, the formula works by tonifying spleen/lung/yang energy according to traditional Chinese medicine theory; it does not have a single molecular target but acts through immunomodulation and regulation of digestive/respiratory functions[1].
