Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Longmu Ningxin Formula (LMNXD) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) decoction developed for the treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Primarily studied by researchers at Longhua Hospital, affiliated with the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the formula has shown potential in preclinical models to ameliorate hyperactivity, impulsivity, and cognitive deficits. Its mechanistic basis involves the modulation of the cAMP and PI3K-Akt signaling pathways, alongside the regulation of neurotransmitter-related targets. Specifically, it has been observed to upregulate the expression of dopamine receptor D1 (DRD1) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) while downregulating glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP). Clinical trials are ongoing to evaluate its efficacy and safety in pediatric populations with ADHD.
