Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Longteng Tongluo is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) preparation developed by Longhua Hospital, affiliated with the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is primarily indicated for the management of cancer-related pain, specifically in patients with lung cancer. The formula is typically administered as a topical ointment or paste for external application to the site of pain. Its mechanism of action involves the suppression of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6), and the modulation of neurogenic inflammation and pain-related signaling pathways, including the inhibition of TRPV1 expression and the reduction of substance P levels. It is often utilized as an adjuvant therapy alongside conventional analgesics to improve pain control and mitigate the side effects associated with high-dose opioid use.
