Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lonicerae Japonicae Caulis is the aboveground stem part of Lonicera japonica Thunb., a plant classified as a medicine-food homology species in China. It is traditionally used for clearing heat, detoxifying, dredging wind, and unblocking collaterals. Modern research indicates it contains various active metabolites such as organic acids, volatile oils, flavonoids, triterpenes, and triterpene saponins. Its pharmacological effects include anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antitumor (anticancer), antioxidant activities, and the ability to repair bone and soft tissue[1]. The drug has significant research and clinical application value but is not widely recognized as a pharmaceutical outside traditional medicine systems[1][3].
