lopinavir + ritonavir

**Lopinavir + ritonavir** is an oral fixed-dose antiretroviral combination developed by Abbott and subsequently commercialized by AbbVie. Lopinavir is a peptidomimetic inhibitor of HIV-1 protease that prevents proteolytic cleavage of viral Gag-Pol polyproteins and thereby produces immature, noninfectious virions. Ritonavir also inhibits HIV protease but is included principally at a low dose as a potent CYP3A pharmacokinetic enhancer, increasing lopinavir exposure. The combination is approved, under brands including Kaletra and 克力芝, for use with other antiretroviral agents to treat HIV-1 infection in adults and pediatric patients aged 14 days and older. It has also been studied for COVID-19, including in randomized clinical trials, but is not an approved COVID-19 treatment.
