Lamivudine, zidovudine, tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, and emtricitabine are all nucleoside/nucleotide analogs that inhibit reverse transcriptase by causing chain termination during viral DNA synthesis[2][4]. Efavirenz is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor that binds directly to reverse transcriptase and blocks its activity[2][4]. This combination would provide very broad coverage against HIV but is not available as a single fixed-dose product; rather it represents an aggregation of several standard regimens. Such combinations are typically reserved for salvage therapy or complex cases due to high pill burden and potential for overlapping toxicities and drug interactions.
