Loquat leaf aqueous extract (LLE) is a botanical preparation derived from the leaves of *Eriobotrya japonica* (the loquat tree) using water as the extraction solvent. The extract contains a complex mixture of bioactive compounds, most notably the pentacyclic triterpenoid ursolic acid, alongside various flavonoids (such as quercetin, rutin, naringenin, and epicatechin), phenolic acids (protocatechuic and chlorogenic acids), saponins, and amygdalin. Preclinical and early clinical research suggests that LLE possesses antidiabetic, antihyperlipidemic, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties. Its pharmacological activity is attributed to the modulation of multiple biological pathways, including the inhibition of Nuclear factor NF-kappa-B (NF-κB) and Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling, as well as the regulation of Amyloid-beta precursor protein (APP) processing.
