Overview

This combination therapy consists of loratadine, a second-generation H1 antihistamine, and the flavonoids diosmin and hesperidin. It is being evaluated by Alexandria University in a clinical trial for the prevention of bone pain induced by granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) in patients with hematological malignancies. Loratadine targets the histamine H1 receptor to block histamine-mediated inflammatory responses, which are hypothesized to contribute to G-CSF-induced bone pain. Diosmin and hesperidin provide complementary anti-inflammatory and venoprotective effects, potentially reducing the production of inflammatory mediators and improving microvascular integrity to further alleviate pain.
