Losanet AM

Losanet AM is a fixed-dose combination tablet developed and marketed by the Lebanese pharmaceutical company PharmLine for the management of hypertension. It contains two antihypertensive agents with complementary mechanisms of action: losartan potassium and amlodipine besylate. Losartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively binds to the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor, blocking the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II. Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB) that inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle through L-type voltage-gated channels, leading to reduced peripheral vascular resistance and blood pressure. The combination is available in multiple strengths (e.g., 100/5 mg and 100/10 mg) to allow for tailored blood pressure control and is primarily marketed in the Lebanese pharmaceutical market.
