Overview

**Loteprednol etabonate + tobramycin** is a fixed-dose ophthalmic suspension combining loteprednol etabonate 0.5%, a synthetic corticosteroid, with tobramycin 0.3%, an aminoglycoside antibacterial. Marketed as **Zylet**, it is used for steroid-responsive inflammatory ocular conditions when superficial bacterial infection is present or a bacterial infection risk exists. Loteprednol activates glucocorticoid receptors to suppress ocular inflammatory signaling, while tobramycin binds bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA within the 30S ribosomal subunit, disrupting protein synthesis. The product is administered as topical ophthalmic drops and was initially approved in the United States in 2004.
