Lotus leaf mouthwash is an herbal oral rinse derived from the extract of *Nelumbo nucifera* (lotus) leaves. It is being investigated by the Sri Hasanamba Dental College and Hospital for the management of plaque-induced gingivitis. The extract contains bioactive compounds, such as alkaloids and flavonoids, which exhibit significant antibacterial activity against common periodontopathogens. In clinical studies, it is used as a chemical adjunctive measure to mechanical oral hygiene to reduce dental plaque accumulation and alleviate gingival inflammation.
