Lovidipine butyrate is a novel, short-acting dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB) developed by West China Hospital of Sichuan University. Formulated as an emulsion for intravenous injection, it is designed for the rapid and precise control of blood pressure in patients with hypertension, particularly in perioperative or emergency settings. The drug's mechanism of action involves the selective inhibition of L-type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle, which leads to systemic vasodilation and a reduction in peripheral vascular resistance without significantly affecting myocardial contractility or venous return.
