Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Loxenatide is a short-acting glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) analog. It functions as a GLP-1 receptor agonist, stimulating intracellular insulin synthesis and secretion while inhibiting glucagon secretion, thereby exerting hypoglycemic effects. Beyond glucose regulation, loxenatide can also suppress appetite, delay gastric emptying, increase insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues and the liver, and offer protective benefits to various organs. It is primarily developed for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM).
