loxicodegol

Loxicodegol (also known as oxycodegol and NKTR-181) is a first-in-class, long-acting, orally active small molecule opioid analgesic developed for the treatment of chronic pain. It acts as a selective full agonist at the μ-opioid receptor (mu-opioid receptor), with significantly lower affinity for δ- and κ-opioid receptors. Loxicodegol was designed to provide effective analgesia with reduced risk of abuse and respiratory depression compared to traditional opioids. Its slower rate of entry into the central nervous system is thought to underlie its lower abuse potential. The drug was initially developed by Nektar Therapeutics for indications such as chronic low back pain and musculoskeletal pain[1][2][4][5][6].
