Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination of two separate drugs that have a significant drug interaction. Loxoprofen sodium is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) in the propionic acid derivatives group used for pain relief and inflammation reduction. Methotrexate is an antimetabolite used to treat various conditions including cancer, severe psoriasis, and rheumatoid arthritis. When used together, loxoprofen can inhibit the elimination of methotrexate by blocking human organic anion transporters (hOAT1 and hOAT3), potentially leading to increased methotrexate blood levels and toxicity.
