Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LP-310 is a proprietary oral rinse formulation of liposomal tacrolimus, developed by Lipella Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of oral lichen planus (OLP), a chronic immune-mediated inflammatory condition affecting the oral mucosa. The drug is designed to deliver tacrolimus locally to affected tissues in the mouth, thereby minimizing systemic exposure and reducing potential side effects associated with systemic immunosuppression. LP-310 leverages a liposomal delivery system to enhance mucosal absorption and retention. Clinical studies have demonstrated that LP-310 provides statistically significant reductions in pain, ulceration, and inflammation in OLP patients while maintaining an excellent safety profile with minimal or undetectable systemic absorption of tacrolimus. It represents a non-steroidal alternative for OLP management and is currently being evaluated at multiple dose levels (0.25 mg, 0.5 mg, 1.0 mg) as an oral rinse administered twice daily[1][3][4][5][6].
