LP17 is a 17-amino acid peptide that functions as a potent, BBB-penetrable inhibitor of Triggering Receptor Expressed on Myeloid cells 1 (TREM-1). Its mechanism of action involves dual inhibitory effects on TREM-1 activity, operating through a decoy receptor-like mechanism. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that LP17 can alleviate ischemia-induced infarction and neuronal injury, inhibit microglial M1 polarization and neutrophil infiltration, and reduce the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, TNFα, and IL-6. It has shown beneficial effects in animal models of various inflammatory conditions, including pneumonia, periodontal disease, and periodontitis. LP17 is currently available for research use only and is not sold to patients.
