Overview
Lpathomab is a first-in-class, humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the bioactive lipid lysophosphatidic acid (LPA). Developed using Lpath's proprietary ImmuneY2 technology, it was designed to neutralize LPA and block its signaling through lysophosphatidic acid receptors. LPA is implicated in various pathological processes including neuronal injury, neuropathic pain, fibrosis, cancer progression, and traumatic brain injury. Preclinical studies demonstrated neuroprotective effects in models of spinal cord and brain injury by reducing inflammation and tissue damage. Clinical development reached Phase 1 for neuropathic pain but was discontinued before further advancement[1][2][4][5][7].
