LPLITFN is a synthetic peptide discovered through phage display biopanning that specifically binds to the extracellular domain of Programmed cell death-ligand 1 (PD-L1). In recent research, this peptide has been genetically fused to the sidewall proteins of filamentous fd phages to create tumor-targeting immunotherapeutic bionanofibres. By binding to PD-L1 on the surface of cancer cells, the LPLITFN-modified phages effectively block the PD-1/PD-L1 interaction, thereby restoring T-cell mediated anti-tumor immunity. This approach aims to provide a cost-effective and targeted alternative to monoclonal antibody checkpoint inhibitors, potentially reducing systemic side effects through improved tumor homing when combined with other targeting moieties.
