LPT-101 is a next-generation small molecule photosensitizer being developed by LitePharmTech for the treatment of cancer via photodynamic therapy (PDT). As a new chemical entity (NCE) based on Chlorin e6 (Ce6), LPT-101 is designed to localize within tumor tissues. Upon activation by a specific wavelength of light, the molecule facilitates the conversion of molecular oxygen into reactive oxygen species (ROS), primarily singlet oxygen. This process triggers localized oxidative damage to cellular structures, including proteins and lipids, resulting in tumor cell apoptosis, necrosis, and the collapse of tumor-associated vasculature. LPT-101 is currently in preclinical development.
