Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LPT3-04 is a preclinical weight-loss product candidate that was originally developed by Oragenics and subsequently out-licensed to LPThera LLC in December 2013. It is described as a naturally occurring dietary substance that has demonstrated dose-dependent weight loss in animal models. LPThera, an entity formed by a former consultant to Oragenics, is responsible for the further development and commercialization of the asset. Under the terms of the exclusive worldwide license, Oragenics is eligible to receive royalties of 2.5-5% on net sales, a portion of sublicensing income, and sales milestones up to $5.55 million. The asset was considered a non-core program for Oragenics, allowing the company to focus on its lantibiotic and oral mucositis therapeutic platforms.
