Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LptF multi-epitope vaccine refers to a class of in silico-designed peptide-based subunit vaccines targeting the Lipopolysaccharide export system permease protein (LptF), an essential inner membrane component of the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) transport system in Gram-negative bacteria. LptF is crucial for maintaining cell envelope integrity and bacterial survival, making it a highly conserved and viable vaccine target. Various research groups have utilized immunoinformatics to predict highly immunogenic, non-toxic, and non-allergenic B-cell and T-cell (MHC Class I and II) epitopes from LptF to construct chimeric multi-epitope vaccines. These constructs typically incorporate linkers (such as EAAAK, KK, AAY, or GGGS) and adjuvants (such as RGD or POA_V_RS09) to enhance stability and immunogenicity. These vaccines are being designed and evaluated in preclinical or in silico models to prevent infections caused by Gram-negative pathogens, including *Shigella* species (such as *Shigella flexneri* and *Shigella dysenteriae*, which cause shigellosis) and *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*.
