Overview

LQ036 is a first-in-class, inhaled, homogeneous bivalent single-domain antibody (nanoantibody) that neutralizes interleukin-4 receptor alpha (IL-4Rα). It is being developed for the treatment of moderate to severe asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Unlike traditional monoclonal antibodies administered subcutaneously or intravenously, LQ036 is delivered via atomized inhalation, allowing direct delivery to the lungs for rapid onset of action and reduced systemic exposure. Preclinical and Phase I clinical studies have demonstrated excellent safety, high specificity and affinity for IL-4Rα, robust inhibition of pSTAT6 in T cells, no significant immunogenicity or adverse events, and favorable pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics. The drug is produced using Pichia pastoris expression systems with high yield and cost efficiency. Compared to other IL-4Rα inhibitors like dupilumab, LQ036 shows higher activity with lower dosing frequency[1][2][3][5].
