Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LR1 is a first-in-class small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic candidate designed to promote liver regeneration and improve liver function. Developed by Lerna Biopharma, LR1 utilizes a novel mechanism to protect the liver from deterioration and sustain its biological functions in patients at risk of liver failure. The drug is primarily being developed to address liver failure resulting from chronic liver diseases such as liver cirrhosis and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). By targeting specific pathways involved in hepatic repair, LR1 aims to provide an innovative solution for advanced liver conditions where current treatment options are limited. Preclinical data has demonstrated its potential to sustain liver functions and promote tissue recovery.
