LRP-VFB refers to Vitreoscilla filiformis biomass, a lysate or extract derived from the bacterium Vitreoscilla filiformis. It is used primarily as an active ingredient in topical dermatological products, especially emollients and creams for patients with atopic dermatitis (AD). The mechanism of action is believed to involve modulation of the skin microbiome and enhancement of cutaneous barrier function. Studies suggest that it may activate endogenous antioxidant and antimicrobial defenses in the skin through pathways involving Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) and protein kinase C zeta. Its primary indication is for supportive care in atopic dermatitis, aiming to restore microbiota balance and improve skin barrier integrity[1][3].
