Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LS-ABMSC1 is an autologous cell therapy product composed of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). Developed by Shibuya Corporation, it is being investigated for the treatment of decompensated liver cirrhosis. The therapeutic process involves harvesting bone marrow from the patient, expanding the mesenchymal stem cells ex vivo, and then re-administering them to the patient via hepatic arterial infusion. The mechanism of action is thought to involve the secretion of various paracrine factors and cytokines that promote tissue repair, reduce inflammation, and potentially differentiate into hepatocyte-like cells, thereby improving liver function and reducing fibrosis in patients with advanced cirrhosis.
