Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LT-COVID is an intranasal protein subunit vaccine candidate developed by Advagene Biopharma for the prevention of COVID-19. The vaccine utilizes Advagene's proprietary LTh(αK) adjuvant platform, which consists of a detoxified version of the *Escherichia coli* heat-labile enterotoxin. This adjuvant acts as a mucosal immunomodulator, inducing the expression of type I and III interferons from mucosal epithelial cells to elicit both robust mucosal (IgA) and systemic (IgG) immune responses against SARS-CoV-2. By delivering the vaccine via a nasal spray, it aims to establish a first line of defense at the respiratory mucosa, the primary site of viral entry for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
