Overview

LT3001 + aspirin is an investigational combination therapy comprising LT3001, a novel synthetic small molecule with both thrombolytic and neuroprotective effects, and aspirin, a well-established antiplatelet agent. LT3001 acts by enhancing endogenous fibrinolysis, promoting the binding of plasminogen to fibrin to achieve clot dissolution, while also scavenging free radicals and reducing oxidative stress, thereby providing tissue protection after ischemic stroke. Aspirin inhibits platelet aggregation through irreversible acetylation of cyclooxygenase-1, leading to decreased thromboxane A2 production. This combination is studied for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke, targeting improved functional outcomes, a wider treatment window, and increased safety relative to standard thrombolytics. The primary developer of LT3001 is Lumosa Therapeutics. The combination has been evaluated in clinical settings to assess synergistic effects and overall safety in acute stroke management, but it is not yet approved for clinical use.
