LTB-SYN is a **recombinant fusion protein antigen** composed of the B subunit of the heat-labile enterotoxin (LTB) from enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli fused to epitopes of α-synuclein. It is produced in genetically modified plant cells (carrot cell line Z4) and is proposed as an oral immunotherapy and vaccine candidate for synucleinopathies such as Parkinson’s disease. The LTB subunit functions as a mucosal adjuvant and facilitates antigen delivery, while the α-synuclein epitopes target immunization against pathological α-synuclein aggregation[3][5][6][7][9].
