LTP001

LTP001 is an investigational small molecule drug developed by Novartis for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). It acts as an antagonist of SMURF1 (SMAD specific E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 1), a protein that is upregulated in vascular cells from patients with PAH. By inhibiting SMURF1, LTP001 aims to restore balance in the TGFβ/BMP signaling pathway, which is implicated in vascular remodeling and disease progression in PAH and IPF. The drug is administered orally once daily and has reached Phase 2 clinical trials for both indications.
