Overview

LTR192G + dscCfaE is an investigational recombinant protein subunit vaccine combination developed by the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command (USAMRDC) for the prevention of diarrhea caused by enterotoxigenic *Escherichia coli* (ETEC). The vaccine consists of two primary components: dscCfaE, a donor strand-complemented recombinant protein derived from the CfaE adhesin subunit of CFA/I fimbriae, and LTR192G, a detoxified single-mutant heat-labile enterotoxin (LT) that acts as a potent mucosal adjuvant. The vaccine is designed to elicit antibodies that block the adherence of ETEC to the intestinal epithelium, thereby preventing colonization and subsequent diarrheal disease. It has been evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials using intradermal administration to assess efficacy against experimental challenge with ETEC strain H10407.
