Overview

Lu-177 FAPI-09 is a therapeutic radiopharmaceutical designed to target fibroblast activation protein (FAP), an enzyme highly expressed on cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) within the tumor microenvironment of various solid tumors. The agent consists of the FAPI-09 ligand, a small molecule/peptide derivative, chelated to the beta-emitting radioisotope Lutetium-177. This theranostic approach allows for the selective delivery of cytotoxic radiation to the tumor stroma, potentially disrupting the supportive environment of the tumor and sensitizing it to other treatments. It is primarily investigated for advanced, chemotherapy-resistant malignancies, including gastrointestinal and ovarian cancers, often in combination with chemotherapy or immunotherapy.
