Overview
Luarprofen is an innovative inhaled and nebulizable pharmaceutical formulation of ibuprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), developed by Química Luar SRL and CEPROCOR. It is designed for the potential treatment of pulmonary affections, particularly to reduce the severity and progression of lung injury and inflammation in patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome due to SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). Ibuprofen exerts its therapeutic effects by non-selectively inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, COX-1 and COX-2, thereby decreasing the synthesis of prostaglandins which are key mediators of inflammation, pain, and fever.
