Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**LUBT010** is a biosimilar of ranibizumab, developed and manufactured by Lupin. It is designed as an alternative to Lucentis (ranibizumab), a recombinant humanized IgG1 kappa monoclonal antibody fragment. Ranibizumab selectively binds to and inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), thereby reducing neovascularization and vascular permeability in the retina. LUBT010 has demonstrated in a global phase 3 trial equivalence in efficacy, safety, and immunogenicity to Lucentis for the treatment of neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Its approved use in India is under the brand name “RaniEyes.” LUBT010 is administered as an intravitreal injection and is under regulatory review in major global markets for indications including wet AMD, macular edema following retinal vein occlusion, diabetic macular edema, diabetic retinopathy, and myopic choroidal neovascularization.[1][2][3][4][5][7][9][10]
