Lucid-MS (Lucid-21-302) is a patented, first-in-class neuroprotective small molecule developed as a novel therapy for multiple sclerosis (MS). Unlike current MS treatments that primarily target immune modulation to reduce inflammation and slow myelin damage, Lucid-MS is designed to directly prevent and reverse myelin degradation by stabilizing the myelin sheath around nerve fibers. Its mechanism of action involves inhibition of peptidyl arginine deiminases (PADs), enzymes implicated in the pathological process of hypercitrullination leading to demyelination in MS. Preclinical studies have shown that Lucid-MS can both protect against and repair damage to myelin without affecting the immune system. The drug has completed Phase 1 clinical trials demonstrating safety and tolerability in healthy volunteers, with plans underway for Phase 2 trials targeting efficacy in people with MS[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8].
