Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Lucinactant LS** is a lyophilized formulation of lucinactant, a synthetic peptide-containing pulmonary surfactant developed from the KL4 surfactant platform. It contains the surfactant protein-B mimic sinapultide, also called KL4 peptide, with dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine, palmitoyloleoyl phosphatidylglycerol, and palmitic acid. Following reconstitution and pulmonary administration, it replaces deficient endogenous surfactant, lowers alveolar surface tension, and helps prevent alveolar collapse. Lucinactant LS has been studied as the drug component of aerosolized lucinactant systems for respiratory distress syndrome in premature neonates and as an intratracheal treatment for COVID-19-associated acute lung injury.
