Ludwigia stolonifera extract is an aqueous preparation derived from the shoots of the creeping water primrose, an aquatic plant native to regions including the Nile River. It is characterized by a high concentration of bioactive secondary metabolites, including phenols, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and alkaloids. Research indicates that the extract possesses potent antioxidant, antibacterial, antiparasitic, and antineoplastic properties. Its mechanism of action in cancer cells involves the induction of apoptosis through the disruption of mitochondrial membrane potential, leading to the release of cytochrome c and subsequent activation of the caspase cascade.
