Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Luhong Granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation primarily used to treat chronic ventricular remodeling following myocardial infarction. It is clinically recognized for its ability to alleviate symptoms such as chest tightness and shortness of breath. The therapeutic mechanism involves the modulation of the gut-heart axis; specifically, the granules improve intestinal barrier function and alter the composition of the gut microbiota (reducing genera such as Bacteroidales, Alistipes, and Phascolarctobacterium). This leads to a significant reduction in circulating levels of trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) and lipopolysaccharides (LPS), which are known to promote myocardial fibrosis and adverse cardiac remodeling.
