Lulinol

Lulinol is a topical antifungal medication containing luliconazole (1% w/v), an imidazole derivative. Developed and marketed by Galcare Pharmaceutical, it is primarily used for the treatment of dermatological fungal infections such as tinea pedis (athlete's foot), tinea cruris (jock itch), and tinea corporis (ringworm). Lulinol works by inhibiting the enzyme lanosterol 14-alpha demethylase, which is responsible for converting lanosterol to ergosterol. The resulting depletion of ergosterol and accumulation of methylated precursors lead to the disruption of the fungal cell membrane structure and function, ultimately exerting a fungicidal effect against dermatophytes like *Trichophyton rubrum* and *Epidermophyton floccosum*.
