Overview

Lulizumab pegol is a humanized, PEGylated monoclonal antibody fragment (domain antibody) that targets the CD28 antigen on T cells. By blocking CD28, it inhibits T cell activation and can induce immune tolerance, making it a potential therapy for autoimmune diseases and transplant rejection. The drug was developed by Bristol-Myers Squibb and has been investigated primarily for kidney transplant rejection (renal transplant), as well as previously for primary Sjögren's syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus. Its PEGylation improves solubility and extends its half-life in circulation[1][3][4][5][8].
