Lumeblue is an oral diagnostic drug containing methylthioninium chloride (commonly known as methylene blue) formulated with proprietary Multi-Matrix (MMX) technology. It is designed to enhance the visualization of colorectal lesions in adult patients undergoing screening or surveillance colonoscopy. The MMX technology enables targeted delivery and controlled release of the active dye directly to the colon during bowel preparation. As a vital dye enhancer, Lumeblue increases contrast between colorectal lesions and healthy mucosa, improving detection rates for non-polypoid lesions and adenomas. The drug has been approved in Europe since August 2020 and in China since June 2024; it is also under regulatory review or development in other regions[1][2][3][4][6].
