Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lumen malaria VLP vaccine is an investigational, needle-free, and cold-chain independent recombinant vaccine developed by Lumen Bioscience in collaboration with the University of Washington for the prevention of malaria. The vaccine consists of virus-like particles (VLPs) assembled from recombinant hepatitis B capsid antigen displaying the NANP repeat of the *Plasmodium falciparum* circumsporozoite protein (PfCSP). It is produced using Lumen's proprietary spirulina-based biomanufacturing platform, allowing for low-cost, scalable production. Designed for mucosal delivery, the vaccine can be administered orally or intranasally to elicit systemic IgG responses and is being developed as a seasonal booster to sustain malaria immunity.
