Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lumentin is an oral contrast agent developed by Lument AB, specifically designed for small bowel imaging using Magnetic Resonance Enterography (MRE) and Computed Tomography Enterography (CTE). The product, often referred to as Lumentin 44, is formulated using egg albumen (egg white protein). Its primary function is to act as a luminal filling agent that distends the small intestine, allowing for high-resolution visualization of the bowel wall and lumen. This is particularly useful in the diagnosis and monitoring of Crohn's disease, where it helps identify inflammation, strictures, and other morphologic changes. Unlike some traditional contrast agents, Lumentin leverages the natural properties of egg proteins to achieve diagnostic image quality.
