Lumixa

Lumixa is a preservative-free ophthalmic medical-device solution marketed for symptomatic treatment of dry eye syndrome. It contains 0.15% cross-linked sodium hyaluronate, liposomes, and crocin; the cross-linked hyaluronate provides viscoelastic ocular-surface lubrication and prolonged hydration, liposomes support tear-film lipid-layer stability, and crocin provides antioxidant and photoprotective activity. The University of Seville evaluated the Lumixa formulation in contact-lens wearers with dry eye associated with moderate meibomian gland dysfunction.
